How to check disability application status in Texas?

After applying for Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI), it’s natural to want to track your progress. Fortunately, the Social Security Administration (SSA) provides several ways to check the status of your disability application in Texas.

Find out if you qualify for SSDI benefits. Pre-qualify in 60 seconds for up to $4,018 per month and 12 months back pay.

Please answer a few questions to help us determine your eligibility.

1. Check Online Through the SSA Website

The fastest and most convenient way to check your status is online:

  • Visit the official SSA website: www.ssa.gov
  • Log in to your my Social Security account.
  • Under “Your Benefit Applications,” you’ll see the current status, including whether it’s pending, in review, approved, or denied.

If you don’t have an account, you can create one for free. You’ll need a valid email address and basic identity verification.

2. Call the Social Security Administration

You can also check your status by phone:

  • Call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213.
  • Speak with a representative to ask about your application.
  • Be ready to provide identifying information such as your Social Security number and date of birth.

This option is especially useful if you have issues accessing your online account or need clarification about your application.

3. Contact Your Local SSA Office in Texas

If you prefer in-person help or want to speak with someone familiar with your region, you can contact or visit your local SSA field office. Use the office locator on the SSA website to find the one closest to you.

What You’ll See When Checking Your Status

Your application status may show:

  • Received – Your application has been submitted.
  • Under Review – The SSA is evaluating your medical and work records.
  • Decision Made – A determination has been issued (approved or denied).
  • Appeal in Progress – If you've appealed a denial, it will reflect the current appeal stage.

Stay Organized and Monitor Updates
  • Keep a record of your claim number and all communications.
  • Check regularly to avoid missing important deadlines or document requests.
